The day Reset‘s ARC arrived in my mailbox. An ARC, or Advance Reading Copy, is a free copy of a new book given by a publisher to gain interest and excitement , as well as reviews. It’s the first important step for Reset to get publicity.

It took me three years to get to this point. I tracked the package as soon as it left Blackstone Publishing, and pounced on the postman who was understandably nervous by my excitement. I couldn’t even wait to go back inside my house to open it.

Well, as you can tell from my unboxing video (credit to my best friend, Bobby), I’m beyond excited.

The day I began reviewing the ARC. The process brought about nostalgia. Late in the line editing process, I learned of my developmental editor, Peggy Hageman’s passing. I decided to add her to my dedication. It was a gut-reaction, one that felt right. She had influenced my book in so many ways, including the cover design and its marketing description.

“Thought-provoking and emotionally resonant, Reset will make you consider the haunting reality of love and loss, and the indelible marks they leave behind.” These were Peggy’s words that will forever grace my book.

The official ARC release date. This was the first day Reset was made available to reviewers, bookstores, magazines, libraries, book bloggers, and other writers. I took my copy on an outing. We both had a busy day.

I can’t believe how Instagram-ready this cover is. The colors and design just pop off the page. My little blue bird of happiness is ready to fly.
